Jane Christie, Sensa-skin founder and formulator, started to ask these same questions a while back. She had the advantage of 20-plus years experience as a herbalist, with a strong awareness of and commitment to health, wellness and the environment. And even then, Jane didn't find it easy to find safe, effective products.

One thing Jane discovered early on was that adding a beneficial herb like Lavendar might help a product's popularity, but if it wasn't present in sufficient quantity it might not have any real effect. And too many products played fast and loose with that overworked word, 'natural'. She wanted personal care systems that were formulated with a real 'feel' for the traditional as well as the clinical benefits of herbs, clays and unprocessed ingredients. Finally she gave up on buying other people's products and started to make her own.
